Traditional Thai massage techniques
The success of Thai massage lies in the comprehensive method of treatment. The key principle is a positive effect on the flow of life energy along the body’s energy pathways (meridians), which distribute energy to the individual organs. If the meridians are weakened or unbalanced, energy does not flow as it should, which leads to the connected organs being weakened and damaged. Blocks, which prevent the flow of energy are removed by stimulating acupressure points (energy centres) and affecting the meridians. The body is harmonised and the healing process begins to take place.
On the contrary to a classic fitness massage, during which the soft tissues are manipulated, Thai masseuses use their fingers, the palms of their hands, forearms, elbows, knees and feet to combine acupressure with stretching, which relaxes muscles, joints, tendons and the soles of the feet, stretches the spine and helps the client to physically and mentally relax overall.
The chief benefits of Thai massage:
- Releases tension and pain (in the back, head – migraines, muscles or joints).
- Increases mobility, flexibility and looseness of joints.
- Improves blood and lymph circulation.
- Promotes muscle regeneration.
- Releases stress.
- Removes toxins from the body.
- Improves immunity.
- Harmonises and strengthens the nervous system.
- Increases the feeling of well-being and vitality in general.
Due to the numerous stretching exercises, Thai massage is also called “applied hatha yoga” or “lazy yoga”. The term that describes Thai massage the best is “yoga massage”. Even though Thai massage can be painful if you have health issues, it will help you lessen these problems or even permanently eliminate them.
TIPS:
- Select the intensity of the massage and stretching at reception and adjust it during the massage by communicating with your masseuse.
- The massage may be painful on some especially stiff muscles.
- You should hydrate after the massage. We offer herbal teas or water at our reception desks.
- We recommend you repeat the procedure once every 14 days.
